Union Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde on Tuesday dies following a road accident in Delhi.
The Union Minister met with an accident, while he was on his way to the Indira Gandhi International Airport. He was scheduled to take a flight to Mumbai.
The exact cause of death will be known only after the post mortem report is out, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan says.
The Union Minister was initially admitted at Safdatjung Hospital, after that he was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he suffered a heart attack.
The accident happened at around 6:30 am, when he was on his way to the airport. It is being said a vehicle rammed into his car near Moti Bagh area.
Immediately after the accident Munde asked his PSO for water and asked to be rushed to the hospital, says Gadkari.
Munde ji was on his way to airport when his car was hit by another vehicle at around 6:30 am at Prithviraj road-Tughlak road roundabout in the heart of the capital, says Gadkari.
Speaking to the media persons, Gadkari says Munde was seriously injured after he met with an accident.
Munde's funeral will take place at his village in Latur district, Maharshtra tomorrow,” Gadkari confirms.
“This is a huge setback for us, and for Maharashtra,” Gadkari says.
Gadkari said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been informed about the incident.
A medical bulletin is expected to be released by AIIMS soon.
Gopinath Munde, the OBC face of BJP in Maharashtra is an MP from Beed district.
